My children aged 6 and 8 really enjoyed learning swimming at Sengkang Swimming Complex with Coach Xavier. The coach let them play the water game in the last 10 mins of every lesson.

Why swimming is good for you?

  • Learning to swim from an young age is helpful to strengthen body muscles, and builds confidence in children to do everything with courage. Children who are used to swimming from a young age remain more active in their studies and daily activities. Additionally swimming improves the natural immunity in the body against diseases.
  • Swimming can be a great exercise for people with asthma as you breathe in warm, moist air rather than the cold, dry air that can lead to asthma symptoms. Swimming can also help you develop good breathing practices.
  • Swimming increases flexibility and strengthens muscles and bones.
  • Swimming increases endurance. With the right technique, a swimmer will be able to train for long distance,as a result, more calories are burned.
  • Swimming works practically all of the muscles in the body (if you do a variety of strokes). Swimming can develop a swimmer's general strength, cardiovascular fitness and endurance. It also gives your body a break from higher-impact activities.
  • Swimming a few laps can help you cool-down, move blood through your muscles to help them recover, and help you relax as you glide through the water.
  • Swimming exercises almost the entire body - heart, lungs, and muscles - with very little joint strain. It is great for general fitness.
